Oberlin Shansi
"Oberlin Shansi is a non-profit organization that promotes understanding and communication between Asians and Americans through individual and group programs and community projects. The aim of these endeavors is to help participants make constructive and useful contributions to Asian and American institutions, programs and communities.
Founded in 1908 in Oberlin, Oberlin Shansi has its own endowment and a volunteer board of trustees. Shansi, while an independent organization, extensively serves the Oberlin College community and institutions of higher education in China, India, Indonesia and Japan. It has programs on the post-graduate, faculty/staff and undergraduate levels."

Shansi regularly chooses a handful of students to receive fellowships to work abroad for two years, typically teaching English. Fellows currently chose from campuses in China, India, Indonesia, or Japan. It also works to bring in Asian faculty, including International Education Fellows, Shansi Research Fellows, and Shansi Visiting Professors, offers In-Asia study grants, an exchange program with the Obirin University in Japan, and various other opportunities to Oberlin students.
Most recently, during Commencement 2008, Oberlin Shansi held it's Centennial Celebration.
