Access to Internet relay chat networks is blocked by default on the Oberlin networks due to malware using traditional IRC ports to spread. If you really miss it, though, you can have access to IRC restored just by sending a nice email to consult-NOSPAM@oberlin-NOSPAM.edu asking to be put on the IRC whitelist.
