Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies
The Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies program at Oberlin, previously known as the Gender and Women's Studies program, has two main goals for its students:
- To understand and apply interdisciplinary feminist scholarship to theoretical, methodological, ethical, epistemological, and practical debates and issues
- To independently develop original high-quality research and creative projects about women, gender, and sexuality
Majors in GSFS are required to enroll in 30 hours of GSFS courses, including:
- Introductory courses at the 100s and 200s level that address intersectionality, with no more than 7 hours at the 100s level
- Interdisciplinary Seminar on Gender and Sexuality
- Feminist Research Methodologies
- A Capstone Seminar
Minors in GSFS are required to enroll in 15 hours of GSFS courses, including:
- An Introductory course at the 100s and 200s level
- Either Interdisciplinary Seminar on Gender and Sexuality or Feminist Research Methodologies
