Dining
Dining is important -- it's one of the few activities that all Obies partake in at one point or another during their four years. While you can always go downtown to a restaurant, or try to cook some ramen in your dorm's kitchen, you'll also be required to be on a meal plan unless you're married or over the age of 23.
Students can choose either to eat in the dining halls or in a co-op. Basically, when you go to a dining hall, there are a few entrees (some vegetarian, some meat, don't count on real vegan options beyond rice/pasta and salad bar) already made, and a salad bar. When you go to a co-op, you've probably helped prepare or clean up for this meal or some other one, and there's less variety. Co-ops frequently claim to have better food than traditional dining halls, though that depends on your tastes and who the cooks are for the semester. They certainly tend to always have vegan options, and (depending on the co-op) rarely if ever serve meat.
