Theatre and Dance
Theater and Dance is a department in the Humanities division of the College of Arts and Sciences. Majors can chose to focus in either performing art, with concentrations available in both (for theater: acting/directing, tech/design, literature and criticism; for dance: performance, choreography).
The department puts on four 'mainstage' shows in Hall Auditorium (or sometimes Little Theater each year - theater productions in the fall, winter term, and spring, and the Oberlin Dance Company concert at the end of spring semester. The Fall Forward and Spring Back dance concerts, staged in Warner Mainspace, are also department-led. The department also sponsors several honor-candidate productions each year, as well as other independent student productions if space allows.
Due to the small size of most classes in the department, it is harder for non-majors to get in to many courses. This puts the department in the same realm as Art and Creative Writing.
