Composition

A major in the Conservatory, Composition has undergone considerable changes in the past few years. The department now is associated with the Technology in Music and Related Arts department. Both TIMARA and Composition majors must complete a year of half-semester (module) courses in composition during their first year, and both majors require lessons on an instrument (Composition requiring keyboard experience specifically). Composers must also enroll in composition seminars, studio classes, TIMARA courses, theory, and orchestration courses.

A minor in composition is also available, as is a College Music Major with a composition emphasis.
