In Oberlin Chinese refers to Mandarin Chinese. It is a language spoken by the inhabitants of the People's Republic of China and also refers to those same people's ethnicity.

At Oberlin there are many courses related to Chinese language study and cultural studies like Chinese history and sociology classes.
