Cat in the Cream Coffeehouse

Located in Hales Gym Annex and run by the Student Union, the Cat in the Cream (shortened by most to just the Cat) is a coffee house style venue. The Cat is host to a number of events every semester, ranging from folk singers to one of the campus's many comedy groups.

Twice as wide as it is deep, and with a back wall covered in mirrors, the Cat is by all accounts an acoustic nightmare. Also not the best venue if you need any kind of technical support beyond four flood lights and a PA. However, small jazz ensembles usually put on recitals here, as well as jazz major junior and senior recitals.

• The Cat is one of my favorite venues on campus to see shows in. Sometimes I go to shows when I don’t even know what they are, just to be in the Cat. Lovely large cookies, reasonably priced drinks, couches, tables, and just a generally pleasant atmosphere. —Harris 05:20, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
