This course will trace African American dance and dancers minstrelsy to the 1960's. The course will highlight the importance of the African form and how this form has impacted types of dances done by African Americans. The course will also explore ways in which African Americans both connect and separate sacred and secular dance forms and the codes that distinguish the two.
